Hi everyone,

from the RFC Sunsetting tf.contrib is known that the gan module (with thus TFGAN, GANEstimator, and so on) is going to be moved in a new repo. Any update on this? Is it going to be added in addons?

I'm writing this since I'm currently migrating my codebase to Tensorflow 2.0 and `tf.contrib.gan` is used extensively.

Greetings

Hmmm... I'm not aware of any effort to move it to Addons, and looking at this issue maybe it'll be moved to it's own repo:

If the new repository, SIG and contributors for tfgan have not been decided yet, then how about we move it into tf.addons ?

Sincerely

Armando Fandango

I'm initially very hesitant to move TFGan to Addons as it does not fit cleanly into one of the established API patterns that we support. An example of an addon that breaks this rule would be seq2seq, but Google team members have volunteered to migrate the code and maintain it. So unless a reliable party is willing to do the same for TFGan I think it's a tough addition to the repo.

Thanks,
Sean

Hi Sean,

Since TFGan uses a different API and no third party is willing to maintain it (with the expectation of Saurabh Ghanekar https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/issues/26303#issuecomment-469494588 but I don't know if there is any progress) can we just consider TFGan unmaintained and it won't be upgraded to TF2?

Thanks
