Hi everyone,

Our new list location. You can reach our group via our old URL: techwr-l.com or visit the site directly.

The distro email address has not changed: tech...@techwr-l.com.

You need to join the group to be allowed to post & new members will be moderated (similar to our old group distro).

When I try to reach the old site, it takes me to a Google group page. I'm a long time member of the former group. The instruction is confusing?

Hi Roberta,

The old site has been shutdown. We’ve migrated to Google Groups. I setup a forward from the old domain to the new URL since we can’t white label the page.

So when I linked it to my Google account I guess that's how I stay a member.
Thank you

I just checked and yes, the full membership does require connecting to Google. It's not ideal, but the run costs are far lower on this platform than our old one

As long as we're migrating, could you make the sig file/post script a lot shorter? It's longer than the posts themselves; and it's replicating every reply. Maybe set it to only apply to initial/new posts, not every post and reply?

Thanks for what you're doing!

I'm not saying that! Feel free.
I think the group admin might have controls for SIG file.
I'll check tomorrow by making one and see.

Have a great week!

Please remove me from this list.

(I tried to unsubscribe per the instructions below, but got a failure notice saying that the email I sent to techwr-l+u...@techwr-l.com was undeliverable.)

Thank you.

Did any of you try replacing the subject line to read simply: unsubscribe ?

That’s the common way I would expect this to work.

I need everyone to take breath on the unsubscribe and let us work out some of the gotchas with the cutover. It appears we have a configuration issue with the email. Feel free to email ad...@inktopia.net if the unsubscribe doesn't work.

It seemed pretty understandable how to get removed from the list, except that the instructions could have been more explicit. I would change the line that tells you how to unsubscribe, as shown below:

To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an email to techwr-l+u...@techwr-l.com, except that the only change I would make to your instructions is this:

 techwr-l+u...@techwr-l.com

Note: When you include text that needs to be exact, you should not insert ellipses in place of the precise text that should be used.  Especially when the text you need to enter is used as code, as there are people of varying skills on this list.
