From July 13–17, 2020 Harvard University will hold a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded online workshop to bring together a group of secondary physics educators, administrators and methodology experts to discuss the current state of high school physics teaching and explore ways to improve as well as address how to build capacity.
The virtual workshop is being organized by Harvard University and will bring together instructors from the US and abroad to discuss pedagogy, curriculum, education research, and capacity building. This online workshop will lay the groundwork for a smaller in-person workshop to be held once travel restrictions are lifted. The in-person workshop will be held at Harvard in Cambridge, MA. Both workshops are funded by the National Science Foundation.
Workshop participants will also have the opportunity to participate in a physics education research study and become part of an active network of secondary school physics educators.
Participation
The organizers have reached out to teachers internationally who are currently teaching physics at the secondary level. Decision makers in this sector — either at the school administration or government level will also participate.
