An I will ask the first question, does anyone have an online Hooke's Law lab for Honors Physics?

here is a link to some PHETs that are in HTML5

Kids could use them on chromebooks or macs.

Re: Remote labs

Pivot Interactives is a relatively new service from Vernier, where students can take data from high-quality videos.  Pivot is offering a free trial, and a discounted price per seat through the end of the school year.

Last Friday I helped moderate a Zoom workshop for teachers through STEMteachersNYC about Pivot.  The presenters were Peter Bohacek, Pivot's founder, and his collaborator, Matt Vonk.  A recording of that workshop is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5N-5gRRnNG8

Hi Craig-

Thank you so much for these HTML 5 pHet labs - where did you find these? I have been struggling with the Java and Flash simulations that some students can not open.

This makes so much of what I already have work, and makes it so much easier to keep these guys engaged and also get some sleep myself!!!

Best-
Jodi

PHET has a section ont heir website dedicated to HTML5 labs -- here is the link: https://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulations/category/html

I also just got this email from them today.

Remote Learning with PhET Simulations

We are excited to announce several new features to support our teacher community in these unprecedented times.

Find and share PhET lessons, now including in Google Doc formats

Our PhET lesson database now supports adding Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms. Have you written a remote student activity? Share it today and help your fellow teachers.

Search for or tag 'Remote Learning' activities

We have added a remote learning tag, so teachers can more easily find lessons designed for students working remotely. And the wonderful Trish Loeblein has been actively adapting her popular PhET activities for remote learning!

Find prototype sims and review tips for remote learning with PhET sims

Our team has released 4 prototype HTML5 sims and complied a collection of tips for remote learning with PhET sims. Whether you are new to teaching with PhET or have been teaching with PhET for years, we encourage you to take a quick look at the tips and examples. Have other tips? Drop us an email!

Remote Learning with PhET

Thank you for all you do!

Yours in exploration,

The PhET Team

I used the Phet simulations for the first portion of the Hooke's Law Lab but for my AP 1 course I like to add extensions to systems other than springs.  I had them use an elastic band, binder clip, plastic baggie, and assorted items (I used clementines to demonstrate).  For those who did not have elastic bands, I modified some else's scratch to create a simulation that would give them usable data to formulate a conclusion.  Feel free to make a copy and edit the lab, scratch, etc.  I attached everything below.

PhET has converted old java sims

PhET has used cheerpj to convert old sims so they run anywhere. Might be slow.
