Dear Dr. Hofmänner

I would like to draw your attention to our research call, which may also be of interest to you and STS-CH.

In 2023, our foundation will award a total of CHF 100,000 for research projects related to questions of acceptance of infrastructures in the field of electricity and mobile communications, such as for example alpine photovoltaic plants, charging stations for electric vehicles or base stations for mobile communications.

Novel questions or methodological approaches are sought. In addition to empirical studies, conceptual work is also possible. Thematically, the call is broad and open. For illustrative purposes a few questions are mentioned: (i) Causes and ways to overcome the NIMBY blockade, (ii) Influence of the design of mobile communication antennas on acceptance, (iii) Framing by choice of words like radio wave versus radio radiation, (iv) Acceptance of infrastructures of the electricity and mobile communication sector in comparison with other technologies (similarities, differences and specific challenges) as well as other solution-oriented approaches.

The call is open to scholars from a wide range of disciplines, including sociology, psychology, communication/media and linguistics, ethics, history, and science and technology studies.
