Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to share the call for participants for the first Swiss–Belgian STS Summer School, organized by STS-CH, the STS Lab at the University of Lausanne, and the Spiral Lab at the University of Liège. This event will bring together 30 early-career researchers (PhD students and postdocs) in Science and Technology Studies (STS) for three days of intensive exchange, collaborative learning, and writing support.

The summer school will be held from 25 to 27 August 2026 on the University of Lausanne campus. It aims to collectively and reflexively explore our approaches to fieldwork and research practices. Drawing on the research of participants and invited speakers, we will examine how our practices open up possibilities and contribute to making the world “thicker” — more complex, meaningful, and interconnected — and how we might account for this “thickness” in our writing.

Confirmed keynote speakers:

  • Stine Willum Adrian (Arctic University of Norway)
  • Marion Schulze (University of Basel)
  • Alexis Zimmer (University of Liège)

All information is available here, as well as in the attached call for participants.

Please feel free to circulate this information within your networks.
