Dear colleagues,

The Professorship for Ethics, Technology and Society (Prof. Margarita Boenig-Liptsin), at ETH Zürich will be hosting the next Science and Democracy Network (SDN) Annual meeting, August 29-31, 2024.

We will soon release a preliminary program, but in the meantime please register by July 21 if you want to attend, using the link below. We still have a few seats available, but please understand that, because of logistical constraints, registering with this form does not guarantee a seat. We will confirm all participants by August 5.

SDN Annual meetings are all plenary and based on pre-circulated papers, to foster deep discussions and genuine engagement between participants over the course of the 2.5 days.

Best,
Gabriel

About SDN

The Science and Democracy Network (SDN) was established in 2002 to enhance the quality and significance of scholarship in science and technology studies (STS) by training young professionals and by forging links between STS and related fields of study and practice, such as anthropology, political science, international relations, and law. Each year it looks to address topics relating to the politics and normative practices of making knowledge and technological systems. Panels are organized around key thematic areas, including the role for institutions, citizenship and participation, communication, and representation.

This meeting is organized by the Professorship for Ethics, Technology and Society (Prof. Margarita Boenig-Liptsin), Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences at ETH Zürich (Switzerland) and with the generous support of:
  • The Program on Science, Technology and Society at the Harvard Kennedy School (USA)
  • The Research Institute for Sustainability – Helmholtz Centre Potsdam (Germany)
  • The Anticip project, led by Mines Paris – PSL, Centre de sociologie de l’innovation (France)
  • Department of Science, Technology and Society, Technical University of Munich (TUM) (Germany)
