to TC02 - Micromechanisms

Dear TC2 members,

As you are aware, the ECF23 planned for June 2020 in Madeira, was postponed to June 2022 in the same place. Our Technical Committee had a symposium organised within ECF23 with a very good number of abstracts - about 50. Instead of ECF23, this year ESIS will organise the 1st Virtual European Conference on Fracture (VECF1, First day: 29.06.2020; www.vecf1.eu). I understand that not everyone who submitted an abstract would be prepared to attend the virtual conference, but if you do, please prepare a video of your talk and submit it to the virtual conference address by 10th June. For submitted talks, the organisers will still publish the papers in Procedia Structural Integrity, which was the plan for ECF23, and the papers will be due in August 2020.

Since we are hoping for the situation to improve substantially for next year, we have looked at arranging our next TC2 meeting. I am pleased to inform you that the 2021 meeting of TC2 will be organised as a mini-symposium within the European Solid Mechanics Conference ESMC2021 to be held on July 5-9, 2021 in Galway, Ireland (https://euromech.org/conferences/ESMC/ESMC11). I would encourage you to consider participating in this event, for which details will be on the conference page later this year. And, of course, we will have the opportunity there to plan/decide out 2022 meeting, for which we have two options: as part of the postponed ECF23, or as part of the 10th Conference on Microstructures and Micromechanisms of Fracture (MSMF10) to be held in Brno, Czechia.

Kind regards,

Andrey Jivkov
