Dear BOINC Team,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Frederick Tankeu, a Master's student in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), specializing in AI and Big Data at the University of Ebolowa. I am currently working on a research project that requires utilizing volunteer computing with BOINC, and I am facing some challenges in setting up and launching tasks for my project.

I followed the procedure outlined in the BOINC documentation (BOINC Server Cookbook https://github.com/BOINC/boinc/wiki/Create-a-BOINC-server-(cookbook)) to create my own project. After submitting my application and connecting volunteers to the project, I encountered an issue: no tasks are launching despite the volunteers being successfully connected.

Could you kindly provide a more detailed tutorial or step-by-step guide that clearly explains how to create and launch an application across multiple platforms (Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, etc.)? I would greatly appreciate a resource that covers the process of deploying a volunteer computing application across different clients to facilitate the execution of tasks for research purposes.

This assistance would be invaluable for my research work, and I am eager to resolve this issue to proceed with my project.

Thank you in advance for your time and support.

Best regards,
Frederick Tankeu

Hi Frederick,

If you have set up your project server and BOINC client but are not downloading tasks, you should first check whether tasks are available to be sent, and then investigate why they are not being sent.

The server status page will show you how many tasks are ready to send. If there are some, check the event log from the Tools menu in the client to see if any messages appear. You can also review the scheduler log on the server. This should give you a good starting point for troubleshooting.

Feel free to reach out to me directly if you need any more help.

Cheers.

Laurence
