On occasion I came across that thing. Does it still makes sense to offer
a VirtualBox installation on these Macs, i.e. do projects that use
VirtualBox have 32Bit applications?

Einstein@Home has a first version of a native Apple Silicon / M1 /
arm64-apple-darwin App available, that runs e.g. with the current
universal BOINC client
(https://einsteinathome.org/content/native-apple-silicon-m1-app-available).

The speed is already pretty impressive, although it's based on an older
version of FFTW without any extra manual tuning. It runs more than 4x as
fast as the x86 version of the same app with SSE tuning in Rosetta2
emulation.

It should be helpful for client development and testing.
