Hi,
I'm running boinc 7.18.1+dfsg-4 on a VirtualBox Ubuntu 22.04 vm. I've noticed that in the past week or so, I am no longer able to start boinc-client. I can't even bring up the Usage message:
ejlevine@muon-ub22:~$ /usr/bin/boinccmd --helpIllegal instruction (core dumped)
It seems to be related to libboinc.so.7.18.1; from /var/log/kern.log:
Aug 27 16:48:26 muon-ub22 kernel: [ 2717.873990] traps: boincmgr[8288] trap invalid opcode ip:5568b2f5555d sp:7ffd73c7d600 error:0 in boincmgr[5568b2f29000+19c000]Aug 27 16:48:31 muon-ub22 kernel: [ 2723.336362] traps: boincmgr[8541] trap invalid opcode ip:55bbd662c55d sp:7ffcd99e2ad0 error:0 in boincmgr[55bbd6600000+19c000]

I don't see this file under /var. I tried un-/re-installing the boinc packages, but that didn't help. I also found this bug report from Feb 2022:
ejlevine@muon-ub22:/var/crash$ dpkg -l|grep -i boincii boinc 7.18.1+dfsg-4 all metapackage for the BOINC client and the manager
ii boinc-client 7.18.1+dfsg-4 amd64 core client for the BOINC distributed computing infrastructure
ii boinc-client-nvidia-cuda 7.18.1+dfsg-4 amd64 metapackage for CUDA-savvy BOINC client and manager
ii boinc-manager 7.18.1+dfsg-4 amd64 GUI to control and monitor the BOINC core client
ii libboinc-app7:amd64 7.18.1+dfsg-4 amd64 libraries for BOINC's scientific applications
ii libboinc7:amd64 7.18.1+dfsg-4 amd64 libraries of BOINC the client depends on
Did something change recently?
thanks,
-eric
