My Apple Mac desktop has been freezing regularly.  It says BOINC is taking up 43 GB up operating memory.  I installed Docker.  I have no idea what the problem could be.  I am thinking of uninstalling BOINC.

A few questions to help us understand your issue:

[1] Which projects are you using?

[2] How have you determined that it uses so much memory?

[3] When you say "memory" are you referring to RAM and virtual memory, or are you including disk space?

[4] What are your settings in the Computing preferences for "Use at most xx% of memory"?

[5] Which version of BOINC are you running?

[6] Is your Mac an Intel or Apple Silicon (ARM) computer?

Please try uninstalling BOINC (using the "Uninstall BOINC" utility provided with the BOINC installer in the Extras folder, and then running the BOINC installer again to see if this fixes your problem.

On my Apple Silicon iMac, BOINC uses about 2 GB of RAM and 9 GB disk space. I have BOINC set to use 50% of the CPUs and up to 90% of memory, and to suspend when the computer is in use.

Best wishes,
