Vocaroo - Easy voice recording
This is the simplest way to “hear” from students, literally. Vocaroo has been around a long time, but since it ran on Flash, it wasn’t useful with our iPad users. That has changed. Now kids can go to vocaroo.com and record their voice instantly. No account needed; no way to save a recording on their site, either. But recordings are downloadable and can be saved on your laptop or uploaded to Drive. Kids who are camera shy may find it easier to share ideas when only their voice is used.
Here’s a voice message from me to you: Hit the play button when Vocaroo opens.
When you share Youtube links with kids they get the whole smash: related videos and comments that might be less than edifying. The alternative is to take a few seconds (literally) to get a link that takes kids to a safe version. Safeyoutube.net Simple process: Copy the original YT link, go to Safeyoutube.net and paste it in the only place you can. Then grab the new safe link and share that.
YouTube Pro Tip: Get a Link to a specific place in a video
When you click the "share" option in YouTube, notice the checkbox at the bottom of the share options window. You can select that and choose any point in the video. When your students click the link, the video will open to exactly that spot in the video.
