FEMA 800: National Response Framework, An Introduction

Date: Wednesday

05/25/22

Start: 6:30 PM

End: 10:00 PM

Location: 255 Barack Obama Bvd,

San Jose SJFD Training Center

Credential Credit (What's this?): No

This class is the equivalent of taking the FEMA IS-800 (National Response Framework Intro) class online, except it will be taught live and in-person by a CSTI outreach instructor for the ICS and EOC suite. The instructional portion of the class will end at 21:30.

To become certified, you have two testing options:

  1. Frannie can administer the test and issue the certificate from CSTI. You will be given 30 minutes (21:30-22:00) to complete the test in the classroom. CSTI certificates cost $15.00 each, plus tax.
  2. Take the test at the FEMA website online after the training. After the class ends at 21:30, you can decide when to take the test on your own time. The FEMA certificates are free and dowloadable from their website.

Field Operations Type III, Part B and Type II

Date: Saturday

06/04/22

Start: 9:00 AM

End: 12:00 PM

Location: 55 W Younger Ave, San Jose

Credential Credit (What's this?): Yes

 

Objectives include defining a Field Operator, including how to serve agencies, mobilize, slect equipment, operate, problem solve, and demobilization.

Bring your Student Number and  ICS-214 and ICS-211s that you started in the Part A class.

If you didn’t attend, do the homework from Part A and you will be assigned a number at the class.

There are 15 positions available.

Communication Drill at Art and Wine Festival

Date: Saturday 06/04/22

Start: 10:00 AM

End: 4:00 PM

Location: Sunnyvale/Washington

Credential Credit (What's this?): No

You can sign up for one of multiple 2 hour shifts as net control operator or field operator.  Net control will operate from the MEOC.  Field operators will make reports from the festival grounds based on NC requests.  Travel to and from the event will be tracked on the resource net. 

3 NCO shifts: 10:00 - 12:00, 12:00 - 14:00, 14:00 - 16:00

2 FO shifts: 11:00 - 13:00, 13:00 - 15:00

Non Sunnyvale operators are welcome but need to sign a form to get city DSW coverage for the event.

Introduction to Emergency Communications - NIGHT CLASS

Location: Sunnyvale Public Safety HQ

If you know of someone who just got their Ham Radio license, this is their chance to learn how to use their license in Emergency Communications in Santa Clara County  Learn about the simplex and repeaters we use, the frequencies to program into your radios and the various nets you can use to practice your new skills.   And, there will be plenty of “Elmers” to help you learn the ropes.
