Bocce is definitely a growth sport. This is a finesse sport so it
does not require an abundance of physical strength. It focuses on
strategy and some motor skills in manoevering a bocce ball. It is an
excellent social sport as well as Bocce players can play individually,
in pairs or in teams of 4. The other nice thing of this sport is that
it does not have to be played on grass - it can be played on carpeted
surfaces all year round in school hallways, etc.
This sport needs more prominence and more competitions to enhance its
image. To that end, we are hosting a qualifier in London on June
26th. It would be good to get some video of these games to pass along
to show others how to play and how to host a tournament.
It is an excellent sport to develop PATHWAYS in terms of age
development with certain modifications in ball size, court size and
team size. You can bring children in at Active Start to Fundamentals
to existing adult programs.
