Dear Bogdan,

Thank you for using the UCSC Genome Browser and your question about hg38 centromeres and telomeres.

When you suspect a question has been asked before, or even before mailing our list, please take the time to review our archive of previously answered questions: https://groups.google.com/a/soe.ucsc.edu/forum/#!searchin/genome/centromeres$20hg38

This can be very useful for you and our team in that you may find an answer that has likely been asked before and discover additional information we might not think to include in a response to a direct question.

You will want to review the above previously answered questions for more dialogue, but the short answer would be that you can use the Gap track and the Centromere track to identify centromeres and telomeres and the Table Browser to output the data, here is a session link: http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTracks?hgS_doOtherUser=submit&hgS_otherUserName=brianlee&hgS_otherUserSessionName=hg38.centTelo

For example, by using the Table Browser on the Gap track you can click the "filter" button and add "*telo*" to the type field and change the output to selected fields and then click "get output":
http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTables?hgS_doOtherUser=submit&hgS_otherUserName=brianlee&hgS_otherUserSessionName=hg38.centTelo

Thank you again for your inquiry and using the UCSC Genome Browser. If you have any further questions, please reply to gen...@soe.ucsc.edu. All messages sent to that address are archived on a publicly-accessible forum. If your question includes sensitive data, you may send it instead to genom...@soe.ucsc.edu.

All the best,

Brian Lee
