Hello!

You guys are so wonderful that I never want to complain.
OTOH, I am trying to use and make some two bit files on Rocky Linux 8
(RHEL8 just was no longer floating my boat) and I can't update to
the requested GLIBC.  Here's what I mean:

[bgold@localhost ~]$ source ~/.bashrc
[bgold@localhost ~]$ cd kent_tools
[bgold@localhost kent_tools]$ ./faToTwoBit
./faToTwoBit: /lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.33' not found (required by ./faToTwoBit)
./faToTwoBit: /lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.34' not found (required by ./faToTwoBit)
[bgold@localhost kent_tools]$ ./twoBitToFa
./twoBitToFa: /lib64/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.29' not found (required by ./twoBitToFa)
./twoBitToFa: /lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.33' not found (required by ./twoBitToFa)
./twoBitToFa: /lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.34' not found (required by ./twoBitToFa)
[bgold@localhost kent_tools]$

Are there some older executables that you could provide?  I have tried building from source, but it's not as easy as some other tools.

Best,
Bert

Hello,

Thank you for using the UCSC Genome Browser and sending your inquiry.

We have some older binaries (v385) that should work for you:

https://hgdownload.soe.ucsc.edu/admin/exe/linux.x86_64.v385/

If the v385 binaries don't meet your needs, we can assist you with your difficulties compiling from source. The userApps.src.tgz were intended to be built from source, and we can guide you through the process if needed.

I hope this is helpful. If you have any further questions, please reply to gen...@soe.ucsc.edu.

Hello,

I wanted to update you with a set of v479 binaries that you can download. An engineer had just compiled them and made them available for download shortly after I sent my last email. I hope these work for your purposes, and please let us know if you run into any issues.

Just to say I tested these Kent tools on Rocky Linux 8 (a clone of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8)
which does not have an updated GLIBC and they worked!  Thank you for your help!
