HI Everyone,
I want to load a wig file from a URL. I did that but when I viewed it on the Genome Browser, it came up as USER TRACK in the label name. Is there a way I can change the USER TRACK name to the name I want to use.

Hope to hear from you guys soon.

Thanks

Varun

Hi Varun,

Thank you for your question about changing the name of a custom track. You can set the name of a track when you are loading it into the UCSC Genome Browser by using "track line" parameters. You can find more information about these parameters here: http://genome.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/help/customTrack.html#TRACK. See the following help page for some example track lines for the wiggle format: http://genome.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/help/wiggle.html.

After you've uploaded your custom tracks, you can modify and rename your tracks from the "Manage Custom Tracks" page: http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgCustom. When on that page, first click the track name under the "name" column. Then, on the next page, under the "Configuration" box, you can edit the various track line parameters to configure and rename your track.

I hope this is helpful. If you have any further questions, please reply to gen...@soe.ucsc.edu. All messages sent to that address are archived on a publicly-accessible Google Groups forum. If your question includes sensitive data, you may send it instead to genom...@soe.ucsc.edu.
