Hi Alex,
Thank you for your question about the maximum number of tracks that can be displayed in a single window. Although there is no theoretical limit to the number of tracks that can be on in a current window, the browser will only draw a maximum height of 32,000 pixels.
You may be interested in a multiWig container:
http://genome.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/help/trackDb/trackDbHub.html#aggregate
where each bigWig subtrack will be stacked on top of the other
subtracks in the same track group. An example of this style of bigWig track is
the Layered H3K27Ac track for the hg38 browser:
http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTracks?hgS_doOtherUser=submit&hgS_otherUserName=chmalee&hgS_otherUserSessionName=hg38_example_multiWig
I hope this is helpful, please let us know if you have any further questions!
