Hello Everyone,

I see in the cytoband file (from http://hgdownload.soe.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/hg38/database/cytoBandIdeo.txt.gz) that there are several categories of data.  What is the difference between "gvar" and "stalk".  And "acen" is just centromeres?

Thank you very much for all the great data and help.

Best Wishes,

Debra

Hi Debra,

Thank you for your question about the staining information in the cytoBandIdeo table for hg38. For more information on what these acen, stalk and gvar entries represent, please see this previously answered mailing list question: https://groups.google.com/a/soe.ucsc.edu/d/msg/genome/Lymdl_dJvYQ/oSNOTHWVr98J.

I hope this is helpful. If you have any further questions, please reply to gen...@soe.ucsc.edu. All messages sent to that address are archived on a publicly-accessible Google Groups forum. If your question includes sensitive data, you may send it instead to genom...@soe.ucsc.edu.
