Sorry, I just emailed you before, but with an error. I actually used “Shift+drag” before to highlight certain regions (not Ctrl+drag), but now it only zoom the region.

Thanks,

Kind regards,

Sunha

Subject: Highlighting certain region in different colour using "Ctrl+drag"

Hi there,

I have been using "Ctrl+drag" to highlight certain regions (such as exons) in different colour on UCSC, but it has been a while now that Ctrl+drag does not work well, and it keeps zooming the region. Sometimes messages pop up so I could select an option not to zoom, but most of the time, there was no message. "Alt-drag" only highlights in already selected colour, so it is not useful when I need to highlight certain regions in different colour.

I was wondering if there is any solution for this issue.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Sunha

Hello, Sunha.

We have an outstanding bug with the shift+drag feature, the fix will be rolling out tomorrow. As a sanity check could you try and see if you still have an issue on our development server where the fix is already in place?

https://genome-preview.cse.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTracks

Keep in mind that features and data there have not undergone our QA process and are subject to change.

Another possibility could be that the following option got de-selected:

You can find that page by following the Configure button below the tracks image.

I hope this is helpful. Please include gen...@soe.ucsc.edu in any replies to ensure visibility by the team. All messages sent to that address are archived on our public forum. If your question includes sensitive information, you may send it instead to genom...@soe.ucsc.edu.
