mm10 reference based off C57BL/6

Dear UCSC Genome Browser staff,

I'm not as familiar with the mouse assemblies. Is the C57BL/6 strain the same as C57BL/6J:

Note that the UCSC mm10 database contains only the reference strain C57BL/6J.

Thank you for using the UCSC Genome Browser and your inquiry.

The C57BL/6J mouse is a substrain of the C57BL/6 strain. You can learn about the laboratory codes for these mice from the following help page from the Institute for Laboratory Animal Research:
