Hello,

At what point is an XM transcript (predicted) curated as an NM transcript (validated)?  Does this require manual curation based on the literature or submission of cDNA  sequences for the predicted transcript?

Thank you for your assistance.

Latisha

Dear Latisha,

Thank you for using the UCSC Genome Browser and your question about RefSeq curation and when a XM transcript (predicted) curated becomes an NM transcript (validated).

The RefSeq data comes from an external source, you will want to visit their site to read more about their process.

This link to the RefSeq conventions section of their FAQ information may be of help: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK3840/#genefaq.Conventions

Here is also a link to the RefSeq feedback page where people can contribute information or help correct or update information: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/projects/RefSeq/update.cgi

Thank you again for your inquiry and using the UCSC Genome Browser. If you have any further questions, please reply to gen...@soe.ucsc.edu. All messages sent to that address are archived on a publicly-accessible forum. If your question includes sensitive data, you may send it instead to genom...@soe.ucsc.edu.

All the best,
