Some Summer DSSC Updates!

Hope everyone is having a productive summer!

Two updates:

1.  I will be giving a PARC FORUM talk tomorrow in Palo Alto, please spread the word, :):

2.   Some of you may not have known that DJ Patil gave the BSOE 2014 commencement address.   Here is some more info and pointers:

DJ is known for many things, entrepreneur, former UMD professor, co-coiner of the term 'data scientist'.  Also responsible for the popular quote  'data scientist is the sexiest job of the 21st century'.   In addition, he has strong UCSC connections, having served on the Advisory board to the Provost of College Eight, while his father, Suhas Patil, served as one of the original members on the Baskin School of Engineering Dean's Advisory Council. 
His talk, while not on data science, really resonated with folks.

Highlights included:

Class of 2014, you’ve met the criteria to be here today to wear this regalia from what is, in my opinion, one of the best programs in the world. How do I know? Because, it’s one of my favorite programs to hire from. People from this program have never, ever let me down. They’re always ready for the fight, intellectually honest, and compassionate friends. I’m fortunate to count many of the Baskin alumni as part of my personal tribe.
