Hi,

I am Pablo Reviriego Systems Administrator at Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO). One of our users opened a ticket regarding no access to genome.ucsc.edu via http. Our NAT ip addresses to access to Internet are 192.147.150.201 and 202. We noted that when we use the ip address 193.147.150.202 to access your web site the connection is refused. It would be very helpful if you could check this with your security team.

Many thanks in advance.

Pablo Reviriego

Hello Pablo,

Thanks for contacting the UCSC Genome Browser.

One of the users at the IP address you mention (193.147.150.202) was programmatically accessing our website in such a way that it caused the site to slow down for all of our other users. Since it was not possible for us to determine exactly who to contact within CNIO, we had to blacklist that IP address.

We are happy to unblock that IP address. Please ask the user to contact us at genom...@soe.ucsc.edu so that we can help them get the information they need in a way doesn't slow down the site for everyone.

Regards,

Hi Ann,

My apologies. We are investigating what happened and who did it.  To explain they should use the tool under the conditions of use. We try to prevent this happening again.

Still access is blocked for ip address 193.147.150.202.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks and regards.

Pablo.
