Query downloading the data from UCSC Browser

Hello,

I am a research intern at National Taiwan University and I have a file of sequences of chromosomes with CNV value of Head and Neck Cancer of Humans. Now i want to match these chromosomes to the respective genes.

I have used the UCSC table for downloading the data and in place of output file I have given the name of a file and its been downloaded, but I am not able to open the file.

Kindly help.

Thank you for using the UCSC Genome Browser and your inquiry.

It would be helpful to know which of our tools generated this error, but if you are using the Table Browser, you may have downloaded a gzip compressed file instead of the normal plain text file. This compression is useful when downloading large amounts of data. Here is a helpful article on how to uncompress these files:
