Hi,

I am creating some browser images to embed in a large composite image using R.

In a past message here I was instructed to use hgRenderTracks to programmatically get browser images. I can get a simple image easy enough i.e. specify position and track content.

However, I would also like to pass additional parameters to hgRenderTracks, such as image width and other "configure" parameters. I can see there are some parameters here:

https://genome.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/help/customTrack.html#SHARE

Is there a way to get a complete list of parameters I can use with hgRenderTracks?

Thanks,

Vince

Hi Vince,

Thank you for your question about parameters to hgRenderTracks. You can get a list of parameters by configuring a view as you like in the browser, and then altering the url from /cgi-bin/hgTracks?var1&var2 to /cgi-bin/cartDump. This will give you a list of all currently used parameters and their values.

You can then add these parameters to your hgRenderTracks URL. Here is an example link configuring the image width to 300 pixels:
http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgRenderTracks?db=hg19&position=chr9%3A136130563-136150630&pix=300

We have also added a few more parameters to the ones documented here:
https://genome.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/help/customTrack.html#SHARE

Thank you again for your inquiry and using the UCSC Genome Browser. If you have any further questions, please reply to gen...@soe.ucsc.edu. All messages sent to that address are archived on a publicly-accessible forum. If your question includes sensitive data, you may send it instead to genom...@soe.ucsc.edu.
