Hello Sir,

My name is Shaheel Mitra and I was tasked to create/run a prototype hub using the ucsc genome database, and the instructions on the website for running a hub. Currently, using Midnight Commander as my terminal, I have gotten all the way up to step 7, in creating my TrackDb files. I am unsure of where to go from here, and was wondering if you could help me figure out how to allow this hub to become up and running/make it online.

Thank you for your help and consideration,

Shaheel

Hello Shaheel,

Thank you for your question. It sounds like the last step you need to take is #8 (Create track description files). If you are interested in registering your hub with UCSC, please email us a URL to your hub. Our engineering team will review it to confirm that it meets our baseline requirements for track organization and documentation. At minimum, we require that each track has a description page with easily visible contact information. We also maintain a list of suggestions for how to structure track hubs at http://genomewiki.ucsc.edu/index.php/Public_Hub_Guidelines that you might find helpful. After review, we will add your hub to our list of public track hubs.

If you have any further questions, please reply to gen...@soe.ucsc.edu. All messages sent to that address are archived on a publicly-accessible forum. If your question includes sensitive data, you may send it instead to genom...@soe.ucsc.edu.
