Hello,

I’m new to track hubs and having issues getting it to work.  I think I have created the directories and files properly, and they are accessible, but I keep getting errors when I add the track.

Currently the error I am getting is
  • Track WW_Nanopore_K562.main appears more than once in genome hg38.
However, I cannot see the feature at all.

Can you please assist me?

Thanks so much,
Joe

Good Morning Joe:

Can you provide a URL to your hub.txt file ?

The error message says you have defined this track more than once
in your files. If you 'grep' your files for "WW_Nanopore_K562.main"
you may find the duplication. Or perhaps you have a nested include
file chain that is causing them to be used more than once.

Dear Joe,

Thank you again for your time building track hubs.  Please know that we enhanced the error message for this situation for future users.

We have some introductory guides about hubs:

And also a good resource for more complicated hubs is often looking at Public Hubs where consortiums and institutes have built hubs to share data:

Clicking the "Hub Name" on the Public Hub Portal will bring you to the hub.txt for a hub, which will then reveal the underlying genomes.txt and trackDb.txt location:

All the best,
Brian
