ftp of cow genome

Hello

I have downloaded  bosTau8.fa.gz

However, I am getting an error message when I tried to gunzip the file

I obtain an error message

"unexpected end of file"

 

Please advise how to resolve this

Your error appears to be from a file transfer that did
not complete properly.

Does the file look like this in size:

$ ls bosTau8.fa.gz
-rw-rw-r-- 1 868105036 Oct 21 2014 bosTau8.fa.gz

With sum:

$ md5sum bosTau8.fa.gz
46a577bb922a261988471842fec7779d bosTau8.fa.gz

Which compares to the sum in md5sum.txt

$ grep bosTau8.fa.gz md5sum.txt
46a577bb922a261988471842fec7779d bosTau8.fa.gz

This will transfer the file more efficiently than FTP:

rsync -a -P rsync://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/bosTau8/bigZips/bosTau8.fa.gz ./
