Search bar for local track hubs not working

Hi,

I have a local ucsc genome browser mirror but neither the example track hub nor my T2T mirror trackhub are searchable by using the search window. I instantly get to the results page
Search Results on hub_1_hs1 (Human Jan. 2022 (T2T CHM13v2.0/hs1)) saying no results found. There is not even a millisecond delay which makes me believe that I am missing some configuration options. I mirrored the T2T hub and it's also loading everything properly but the search does not work. For other local genomes in the mysql database everything is fine. 
I have proper pathes in the hub.txt and trackDB files for the trix indices. 

in my hg.conf I also enabled a local trix file to be search by 
browser.trixFile=/gbdb/hs1/trackDb.ix
but this simply also seems to be ignored. 
Any hint on what is going wrong here is appreciated.
