Hi,

We recently purchased Liftover and we are trying to add it to a Docker Image. This Docker Image has a base of databricksruntime/standard:11.3-LTS, which is running Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS (Focal Fossa) as its Operating System.

When I try to run the liftOver executable, I get this error:

/liftOver: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.32' not found (required by ./liftOver)

When I run `ldd –version, I get the following:

It looks like GLIBC 2.31 is installed. What is your suggestion for resolving this, should I upgrade the version of GLIBC to 2.32, or use a base image that has GLIBC to 2.32 by default (newer version of Ubuntu)?

Best,

Kori Clermont

Hi, Kori.

One of our engineers suggests trying a newer version of Ubuntu.

Databricks 11.3 is no longer in support, and they moved to Ubuntu 22.04 with version 13.3 (they're up to 17 at this point). It should be compatible with 13.3 or later.

You could also try using the liftOver binary from our v479 freeze (https://hgdownload.soe.ucsc.edu/admin/exe/linux.x86_64.v479/), which may work.
