Dear UCSC Personelle,

I'm Eren. I'm currently a PhD candidate in KU Leuven/VIB.AI in the lab of Prof. Stein Aerts. First, I want to thank you for all the tools that you are providing, they are of great usefullness for my research.

I'm writing regarding the chain files that you provide. I work with Drosophila Melanogaster (using dm6), and I want to liftover some of my genomic regions to (as many) Drosophila species as possible. I have seen that you kindly provide chain files for around 22 species, but upon inspection most of them are from outdated assemblies. Some of these assemblies are very fragmented, which is a roadblock in what I'm trying to achieve.

Would you be willing to provide the chain files for the newer assemblies (Target/reference: dm6, query:other drosophila species)? I'm willing to assemble the list of  most recent assemblies for these other Drosophila species from NCBI if that would be of help to you.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration,
Kind Regards,
Eren

Hello,

Thank you for using the UCSC Genome Browser and sending your request.

Since we have a finite team with limited resources, can you provide the list of Drosophila assemblies that you need for your research? Once we have the list, we can begin the alignments between the assemblies.

I hope this is helpful. If you have any further questions, please reply to gen...@soe.ucsc.edu.
