Hi

I am trying to download the GERP dataset and having some issues. The first thing I tried is to go to the table browser and download the track for GERP. This works but it only downloads the partial dataset because it reaches the maximum limit. So, I went into the filter option and set the max to 10,000,000 but then I get a blank output.

Now I am trying to see if I can download it from the server. I tried to FTP to hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu, but it asks me for a username and password to download anything.

Please help.

Hello,

Thank you for using the UCSC Genome Browser and sending your inquiry.

You can download the underlying bigWig file for the GERP track from the following location:

https://hgdownload.soe.ucsc.edu/gbdb/hg19/bbi/All_hg19_RS.bw

If you are unfamiliar with how to find the underlying file/table name for a track, you can find it from the "View table schema" links on the track description page. There is also a YouTube tutorial to find which tables belong to a data track:

https://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTrackUi?db=hg19&c=chrX&g=allHg19RS_BW
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQZ4EeYS6Zk&list=UUQnUJepyNOw0p8s2otX4RYQ

For information about how to extract the data from the bigWig file, please refer to the following help page:

https://genome.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/help/bigWig.html#Extract

I hope this is helpful. If you have any further questions, please reply to gen...@soe.ucsc.edu.
