Hello!

I'm trying to upload a GFF file to annotate a genome but I keep getting the error in the subject line.  I found a previous conversation that offered a solution at this link https://groups.google.com/a/soe.ucsc.edu/g/genome/c/gCUD3AEzZlI/m/Smv6Sc0sAgAJ.  I tried this solution and the files were made, but I still got the same error message.  I have attached the file that I'm trying to upload.  It's a .txt file but even when I rename it to a .gff file, I get the same error.  Any guidance would be appreciated!

Hello,

Thank you for using the UCSC Genome Browser and sending your inquiry.

Your custom track line is missing the "type=gff" that describes what type of data you are uploading to the Genome Browser. However, after adding the type parameter to the custom track line, copying/pasting the data could lead to an error complaining about the number of columns. Your web browser may convert the tabs into spaces which could cause issues. Instead, you can upload the file directly or supply a URL to the file. For example, you can use the following URL to load your custom track:

https://genome-test.gi.ucsc.edu/~jairo/MLQ/31284/NCBI_tBLASTn.gff

I hope this is helpful. If you have any further questions, please reply to gen...@soe.ucsc.edu.
