Colleagues,

The SMART Field Sensors Task Force and SMART Training Task Force are pleased to make another new resource available to the SMART community, the SMART Field Sensors Handbook.

Field sensors (such as camera traps) have become an increasingly important tool in protected area management by providing important information on movement of key wildlife or human intruders, or evidence of illegal activity complementing observations by patrol teams.

This handbook introduces readers to SMART’s Field Sensors Plugin, which supports incorporating data from camera traps into the SMART database where it can be queried and analyzed with patrol data to give decision makers the most accurate picture of the ground. It explains the concepts, structure and functionality of the plugin and provides examples of potential use case scenarios and what you might be considered when building a data model.

This handbook is available to download on the SMART Support page.

Cheers,

SMART Field Sensors Task Force &

SMART Training Task Force
