Hello !

I have a problem with SMART 7.4.

I noticed a one-hour delay on the waypoints reported in the field.
Indeed, when I download the patrol data from the field, the waypoint times are now displayed with one hour less.
I can't correct this.
On SMART 6.3, this problem did not exist, and I only noticed it when I upgraded to SMART 7.4.

Does anyone have an idea?

Hi

Where are youbusing smart? It might be an issue with daylight savings time or regional time zones.

Hello Richard!

I use SMART in Congo, Central Africa.
Our time is normally on GMT / UTC+1, but it seems that SMART is set to another time zone.

I am asking how to get it back to UTC+1.

Hi Vigny,

Please check your time/date setting on your computer (or devices). SMART will use the system settings. Daylight savings time may be the issue if the timezone is not automatic or specific to your location as this has just altered in some areas (i.e. the timezone is selected as UTC+1, but for the wrong region, which may have now shifted to UTC+2).

Please let us know if this does not solve the problem.

For patrols with incorrect times you should be able to edit this in the tab for the specific day in the patrol view (see below - waypoint time / start time) if you have admin access to the conservation area.

Cheers,

Alex

Hello Alexander !

I have tried everything but unfortunately it does not solve the problem.

The only option I have is to manually change the observation times linked to the waypoints.
This way does not work for me because there can be more than a hundred waypoints for a patrol, so I would lose too much time to set the times of these waypoints manually.

Is there another solution that is even more convenient ?

Are ypu using smart mobile or cybertracker?

As an interim fix you could try setting the timezone on the computer and device one hour ahead or behind. We had to do this in Namibia when the country stopped observing daylight savings time permanently,  but computers and devices still automatically made the change.

The fact thayvit wasn't a problem until a few weeks ago suggests it is a problem with daylight savings, since that is the time when the switch was made. Try setting the computer and devices to a timezone one hour different from yours. I think your location isn't getting recognized properly by the timezone/daylight savings settings.

Really!

I tried everything you said, but nothing solves the problem.
I have the time zone on the GPS, I changed it on the computer, but still no change.
However, a few weeks ago, this problem was not noted.

I just did a test patrol with all your suggestions, but nothing changed.

When I import this data on SMART 6.3, everything is okay, the time is correct.

But on SMART 7.4, there is still a discrepancy.

See attached picture.

SMART.74

SMART 6.3

Wouldn't the problem come from SMART 7.4, since version 6.3 reacts perfectly?

Dear Vigny and Richard,
We haven't used SMART 7.4 yet but have experienced this time shifting in Madagascar. We were using OSM tracker to collect observation data and there were 3 hour differences in some of our field data, depending on the device. What we did to correct it was to use the device's time when collecting the data (Madagascar time is GMT/UTC + 3). So whin thinking about Vigny's problem, the divice might be set to collect GPS data with GMT as well as ours in the past.
Vigny, if you are using CyberTracker or SMART mobile, please review the "CyberTracker Property" in the "Field Data" menu, open the GPS tab and make sure your GPS was set to GMT + 1 (as attached, we are using GMT + 3 in madagascar).
Regards,
Angelo
