Looks like the rain is just about here, and planning to stick around a while. Time to bust out the fenders and mentally prepare for some honest winter base miles!
This week we ride north to Scappoose via Hwy 30 (traffic isn't too bad on Sunday mornings). Then things get interesting, beginning with a taste of the gravel Crown Zellerbach Trail before veering off and exploring the gravel and remote feeling Pittsburg Rd. A quick stop at the store in Vernonia to fuel up, then we're cruising south the entirety of the car-free, 22-mile Banks Vernonia Trail. From there it's pretty much straight back to PDX via West Union, eventually climbing Thompson Rd. to Skyline and dropping back down into town via Cornell Rd.
Be prepared for wet and cold conditions. Fenders are HIGHY encouraged, for the sake of your fellow riders! Conversational pace, pre-season training camp vibes. Don't push the pace, build that endurance base!
Day/Time: Sunday, 12/3, 8:30am roll out
Start/End Location: Haven Coffee Co., 2772 NW Thurman St, Portland, OR 97210

Pace: Zone 2/3. Purposeful on the flats/piano on the climbs. I'm committed to riding at endurance pace on this day. If folks start pushing tempo, don't feel the need to keep up with them, just find me and we'll chat and chill and put in the winter work. There are lots of other opportunities to hammer each other, this ride isn't on of them!

No RSVP required, just show up, ride, and make new friends! Ride is unsanctioned, on open roads, with no official leader.
