PDX Long Rides is back at it this Sunday to help you burn off those holiday calories! A fun route this time of year, we'll head down to Oregon City, through some back roads out to Estacada, then climb NF 4610, a long and beautiful climb up into the Tumala Mountain area. A fast descent back into Eagle Fern, on to Boring, then a spin back the Springwater Corridor Trail. It's a long one, but a good one.
Looks like it'll be chilly and potentially dry this weekend! Of course, it's November in the PNW, so be prepared for wet and cold conditions. If the roads are wet or if it's looking like rain, Fenders are HIGHY encouraged.
Conversational pace, pre-season training camp vibes. Don't push the pace, build that endurance base!
Day/Time: Sunday, 11/26, 8:30am roll out
Start/End Location: Café 57 PDX, 8235 SE 13th Ave #2, Portland, OR 97202
Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/45040719. There is a store at 32.7 mile, a water fountain at ~68.5 mile, and another store at 80.1 mile.
Pace: Zone 2/3. Purposeful on the flats/piano on the climbs. NOTE: I'm committed to riding at endurance pace on this day. If folks start pushing tempo, don't feel the need to keep up with them, just find me and we'll chat and chill and put in the winter work. There are lots of other opportunities to hammer each other, this isn't on of them!
Equipment: Road or gravel bike; 32mm tires or bigger would be ideal
No RSVP required, just show up, ride, and make new friends! Ride is unsanctioned, on open roads, with no official leader.
What are the off road sections like? Can I ride them with fenders and slicks?
