Just over a year ago, NASA raised the tantalizing possibility that a giant asteroid could strike Earth. Last month, that was updated to say that Earth wasn't going to get hit, but maybe the moon might get ka-boomed by the big rock.
Now, the no-fun spoilsports at NASA have released an update stating that new calculations indicate asteroid 2024 YR4 will not hit anything cool or wipe out humanity. It's probably best to cancel any plans that were contingent on either.
If you're reading this in a post-apocalyptic tomorrow, please note this Daily Illuminator was intended as ironic fodder for future data-archeologists to find, not unlike all those "I can't stop thinking about the guy who sneezed on me at the airport, and also why does my new candle not have any smell" posts from January 2020.
