Here's a life hack I've used for a few years, and especially ramped up in the past couple of months since more of my gear has upgraded to USB-C: magnetic USB dongles.
If you've ever messed with old-school MagSafe connectors on Apple laptops, the concept is familiar. The magnetic-dongles kit consists of a small bit that plugs into the port of the USB device, and a bigger bit that plugs into the charging cord. Then, when you want to charge the device (or connect it for data), you can just snap the cord on with the magnet.
I currently own enough kits to plug into my iPad, AirPods, and my Switch 2. It feels very futuristic to be drowsing off to sleep and get my Nintendo device "close enough" to the cable so it latches on and starts suckling. (Actually, it sounds really weird when I say it like that; forget I said anything.) More importantly, since I've seen enough "we fixed this broken USB port" tech videos, I enjoy a bit of peace of mind by saving the wear and tear on the port.
The model I picked up is here. There are other options which I can't vouch for, and this is one that I'm pretty happy with. If your funds allow, you might want to pick up an extra bit or two than you think you need. I bought three more than I thought I would use (to make sure I had spares), and suddenly used two of my extras in a recent weekend flurry of detachable-magnetic organization.
