I Am Done With March Winds And April Showers

Show me those May flowers! Barring those, GURPS supplements. Or – hear me out – why not both?

GURPS Magical Styles: Traditional Styles

In fact, at least one new item couldn't wait for May to pop out of the ground.

GURPS Magical Styles: Traditional Styles (April 24, 2025; PDF)

The latest volume in the series kicked off by GURPS Thaumatology: Magical Styles shows how to restructure the spell-magic of GURPS Magic into something closer to real-world views of magic, which is generally subtler than the default whizz-bang approach. It offers five traditions that blur lines: Bodily Magic for the line between wizardry and chi, Dream Magic for that between the sleeping and waking worlds, Spoken Word Magic for that between speech and action, Theurgy for that between the temporal and the divine, and The Way of the Mystic Assassin for that between mundane and supernatural deception. Any of these could exist in a supposedly nonmagical background without unduly upsetting reality.

Upcoming Plans

Meanwhile, we took strides toward more goodies for May and beyond. I can even share where some of these are in our process (which I explain in this post). Please remember that this is a snapshot, and that we live in Interesting Times that could throw an entire bucket of wrenches into the GURPS machine!

I am willing to admit to 5 Sekrit Projekts as well. Being secret and all, I cannot discuss them right now. But who knows? When I update the GURPS thread in my DreamWidth some Friday, I might just relent!

As I've said in this portion of my last few roundups, the 2025 and 2026 schedules are looking mighty full: That's 20 months, and I've owned up to 15 projects with at least partial titles plus 5 mumble-mumbles. That doesn't mean SJ Games isn't open to rules-light 12- or 21-pagers! If that interests you, then visit the Warehouse 23 Digital Wish List (updated February 14, 2025) and Warehouse 23 Wish List for GURPS (updated February 14, 2025) to see what that company is looking for, and read the Freelancer FAQ, Submission Guidelines, GURPS formatting guide, and GURPS WYSIWYG template to learn how it wants things done. That last bit isn't really optional, given that we have enough publications lined up that we can afford to be choosy.
