A Very Moving Month

I owe two apologies for April: First, this roundup is late. That is because I was moving, the preparations for which started a month ago, the frenzy of which utterly consumed the last two weeks of April, and the consequences of which will continue into mid-May. Sorry for the delay.

Second, forces beyond SJ Games' control dislodged the supplement we had lined up for April and threw the rest of 2026 into disarray. While that was in no way within my power to control, it still happened on my watch. Sorry about that wrinkle, too.

Recent Releases

The long explanation for why we had nothing new for April was that the GURPS Basic Set, Fourth Edition Revised continued to drag at the printer's end, taking with it two volumes of system crunch originally intended to benefit from and support it. Again, SJ Games had no control over that. We are now rearranging the rest of 2026 to get things out the door despite the setback.

GURPS Basic Set, Fourth Edition Revised Progress

The ETA on the GURPS Basic Set, Fourth Edition Revised – originally slated for March – slipped to May in early March and is now looking like July. Nobody is happy about that, but at this point, the most efficient course of action is to let the printer finish printing, binding, and shipping the product. I have submitted a revision to the FAQ to show this.

Upcoming Plans

April made two months in a row when we missed our goal to have something new for GURPS. As noted above, the schedule for 2026 now looks less certain than it once did. I hope that by the end of May, we will have that under control and I will be able to return to providing reliable dates.

In addition, there are 4 Sekrit Projekts. I will leak any developments on those – and on the 2026 and 2027 schedules – in the GURPS thread in my DreamWidth, which gets updates each Friday.

As you have probably guessed by now, we cannot promise timeliness when it comes to responding to query letters, much less on contracts for new projects. On the other hand, such hitches are part and parcel of the publishing business, so you shouldn't lose hope! If you decide to take a gamble, please consult the Warehouse 23 Digital Wish List (updated February 27) and Warehouse 23 Wish List for GURPS (updated February 27). Respecting our desire for 12 or 21 rules-light pages – and the instructions in the Freelancer FAQ, Submission Guidelines, GURPS formatting guide, and GURPS WYSIWYG template – would greatly improve your odds. Thanks in advance!
