Sommar

Pyramid #4/5: Modern/Action IIAnd just like that, it's summer! Often seen as the season of slow living and vacations, it isn't so tranquil for those of us in the games business – it comes with huge conventions and the expectation of major releases. So, GURPS isn't slacking off beside the pool with a Margarita in its hand (Generic Universal Relaxing Pool Sippers, anyone?).

Recent Releases

June brought one GURPS-related item which, while not new new, is available to all for the first time:

Pyramid #4/5: Modern/Action II (June 27, 2024; PDF)

Backers of Steve Jackson Games' 2022 GURPS Pyramid Scheme already have this issue of Pyramid, Volume 4. Now everybody can get it. It offers organizations, tech, vehicles, adventures, and even an entire city suitable for TL5+ campaigns, such as those that use GURPS Action, GURPS Monster Hunters, or GURPS Steampunk. Did you like Pyramid #4/2: Modern/Action II? If so, then you're sure to want the sequel!

Upcoming Plans

Our efforts to support GURPS on a more predictable basis continued, though not without the predictably unpredictable hitches. Since we're on the theme of predictions, here's how things look from where I sit:

  • I was optimistic that we'd see Christopher Rice's GURPS Meta-Tech in June . . . but putting GURPS on a schedule after decades of "it's done when it's done" involves matching ambition to reality, which in this case led to a delay of a week or two. In the meantime, check out the cool cover. Thank you for your patience!
  • GURPS Fantasy Folk: The Reptilian Races, by Phil Masters, and GURPS Power-Ups 10: [Redacted], by y.t., are in production and looking good for August and September, respectively.
  • GURPS Meta-Tech
  • GURPS Loadouts: Starship Crew has been revised, edited, and kicked to production. December now seems quite likely.
  • The status of my Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game adventure and two How to Be a GURPS GM installments is still "sometime in 2025, barring an emergency with another project."
  • GURPS Monster Hunters Adventure: The Face of Fire, by J. Edward Tremlett and Christopher Rice, is headed into its final week or so of playtesting.
  • GURPS Magical Styles: Traditional Styles, by Phil Masters, entered peer review.
  • First drafts of titles in the GURPS Banestorm and GURPS Martial Arts series are with their authors for revision prior to playtesting.
  • Another GURPS Fantasy Folk manuscript just arrived and is slated for editorial review at my earliest convenience.

And 14 Sekrit Projekts remain in states where naming or even hinting at them would be truly premature. Work is getting done, though, so if I change my mind about sharing details . . . well, I'm going to do so in the GURPS thread in my blog, updated Friday mornings.

Short, rules-light material demonstrably runs into fewer holdups, so that's what we're seeking right now. Does something like that from the Warehouse 23 Digital Wish List (updated May 29, 2024) and Warehouse 23 Wish List for GURPS (updated May 29, 2024) interest you? Feel free to send us a query letter! Please be aware that we expect even earliest correspondence to hint that you're conversant with our Freelancer FAQ and Submission Guidelines, and know your way around the GURPS formatting guide and GURPS WYSIWYG template. A manuscript that's misformatted and wildly out of synch with our preferred voice and structure is almost a bigger problem than one that's too "crunchy." Thanks for understanding!
