End-Of-Year Dehibernation

Officially, I'm not here as I write this. I'm on vacation! However, I want to end December with my final update for 2025 (and with a related Daily Illuminator, which should go live before SJ Games reopens for 2026).

The Year's Releases

Due to SJ Games' winter closure, December did not bring anything new for GURPS. But I'd like to round up what came out in 2025.

How to Be a GURPS GM: ImprovisingHow to Be a GURPS GM: Counting HeadsGURPS Magical Styles: Traditional StylesGURPS Hot Spots: Istanbul, 1453-1703 A.D.GURPS Infinite Worlds: GotterdammerungGURPS Gun Stats

How to Be a GURPS GM: Improvising (January) provided a long list of tips for GMs who improvise – whether that means individual encounters, entire adventures, or even campaigns!

How to Be a GURPS GM: Counting Heads (February) offered even more GMing advice, this time on how to deal with having too few or too many players for the campaign you want to run.

GURPS Magical Styles: Traditional Styles (April) grew the GURPS Thaumatology: Magical Styles series, describing five magical traditions intended for campaigns set in what superficially resembles today's world.

GURPS Hot Spots: Istanbul, 1453-1703 A.D. (July), a sequel to GURPS Hot Spots: Constantinople, 527-1204 A.D., visited the great Ottoman city at the height of its powers.

GURPS Infinite Worlds: Gotterdammerung (October) delivered a super-powered setting for GURPS Infinite Worlds.

GURPS Gun Stats (November) showed how to start with real-world data for guns and end up with stats consistent with the "official" ones in the GURPS library to date.

GURPS Basic Set, Fourth Edition Revised Progress

The GURPS Basic Set, Fourth Edition Revised is now at the printer. There's still a lot that has to happen before you can get your hands on it: We have to receive proofs, send back any changes we want, wait while the book is printed, wait more for it to ship, and wait even more for it to go into distribution. In the meantime, I'm working on a detailed FAQ, which should go live in the new year. I've requested this URL, though that might change . . .

Upcoming Plans

Here's where the GURPS line stands as of the end of 2025. While all dates and positions in queues are subject to change, I'm fairly confident that they aren't too far from reality.

Beyond all of the above are 5 Sekrit Projekts. I have no ETA on any of these, and they are not in any queues as yet. If that changes, I'll be sure to mention it in the GURPS thread in my DreamWidth, updated Fridays when I'm not on vacation.

As you can see, 2026 is all planned out and we have enough left over to get a good start on 2027. That means that we cannot treat queries that arrive over the upcoming year as priorities. It does not mean we don't want any, though! If anything on the Warehouse 23 Digital Wish List (updated November 3, 2025) and Warehouse 23 Wish List for GURPS (updated November 3, 2025) suggests a rules-light, 12- or 21-page item you'd like to write, then by all means lets us know. But since there's no rush at all, please take the time to review the Freelancer FAQ, Submission Guidelines, GURPS formatting guide, and GURPS WYSIWYG template first.
