A Briefly Vacated Vacation

Your faithful GURPS Line Editor here is not, in fact, here, but on vacation. However, the end of the month is the end of the month . . . I can't leave you all in the dark! So, here's what's going on for GURPS – although I have only a limited ability to report on things I haven't thought about or worked on for a couple of weeks.

Recent Releases

GURPS Fantasy Folk: The Reptilian Races

August saw one new GURPS item slither in:

GURPS Fantasy Folk: The Reptilian Races (August 29, 2024; PDF)

Fantasy seems to have humanoid reptile-folk in its (often) cold blood: There are the straight-up lizard men who lurk in deserts or swamps, and then the stronger, tougher reptile men who resemble upright dinosaurs. Both races often claim distant draconic ancestry – but for the fire-breathing dragon-blooded, that isn't in doubt. Last but definitely not least are the serpent lords, magical infiltrators who are to fantasy as "reptoids" are to science fiction and modern-day conspiracy. Whether you're a player seeking a roleplaying challenge or a GM populating an adventure with monsters, you'll appreciate this guide to the origins, abilities, equipment, and story roles of all of the above.

Upcoming Plans

Here's what went on under my nose in the first half of August, supplemented by what our all-knowing database tells me happened during my absence. Despite the patchwork nature of the information, the details are as reliable as they ever are. Which is to say, I'd rate them as better than educated guesses but not quite promises.

As for Sekrit Projekts I can't reveal just yet, there are 13 of those in my files. Once I'm back from vacation and working on them again, hints and leaks might appear in the GURPS thread in my blog, updated Friday mornings.

Warlock Knight

You have until September 14, 2024 to back Warlock Knight, from Gaming Ballistic. This is a full-color, two-volume Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game adventure for a group of up to three delvers. Want to see even more adventures? Back this one!

Rules-light supplements in the 12- to 21-page range remain the order of the day. For specific ideas, see the Warehouse 23 Digital Wish List (updated August 6, 2024) and Warehouse 23 Wish List for GURPS (updated August 6, 2024). Successful query letters will show more than casual knowledge of our Freelancer FAQ, Submission Guidelines, GURPS formatting guide, and GURPS WYSIWYG template. The 2024 schedule is now a done deal and even the 2025 schedule is fairly full, which means that you can and probably should take your time with this . . . an unambiguous exception to the usual editorial obsession with "sooner is better."
