You Can't Spell "February" Without "Fury"

GURPS Action 10: Go Teams

If you try, the remaining letters give you "bare," "bear," or "brae." Those are good words and all, but you don't want to try to flee a bear on a bare brae . . . that never ends well, especially downhill. With that PSA out of the way, let's look at what the year's shortest month meant for GURPS.

Recent Releases

So far, we're two for two on getting content out the door each month in 2026:

GURPS Action 10: Go Teams (February 26, 2026; PDF)

The problem with the templates in GURPS Action 1: Heroes and GURPS Action 3: Furious Fists is that they are generic, meaning the GM must decide which ones suit the campaign they intend to run (not all will). Until now, the workaround has been to use GURPS Action 4: Specialists to create a targeted "Basic Action Template," and then to tell the players what skill sets are suitable and/or necessary . . . which means extra work for everyone. This new GURPS Action volume does that work for you, offering "team templates" (I resisted the urge to call them "teamplates") that boil everything down to just what's needed for 10 reasonably common action subgenres: Covert Operations Cell, Emergency Response Team, Gang, Heist Crew, Interagency Task Force, Police Squad, Posse, Security Detail, Special-Ops Detachment, and SWAT Team. In effect, these are deluxe campaign seeds that you can use as written, as checklists for your personal vision of those things, or simply as inspiration.

GURPS Basic Set, Fourth Edition Revised Progress

The GURPS Basic Set, Fourth Edition Revised is still at the printer (we had an update on February 2). Finishing up printing, and then shipping and distribution, remain in the future. The ETA has not changed from April 2026. In the meantime, I continue to maintain the FAQ, which got some updates on February 5.

Upcoming Plans

We continue to do everything in our power to have something for GURPS every month, or nearly so, this year. Due to Real Life laughing at the best-laid plans (in my case, February cursed me with apartment woes and a nasty cold, though not bears), we might sometimes shuffle the deck, meaning that dates change. Still, I feel reasonably good about all of the following.

The 5 Sekrit Projekts I mentioned last month have not changed status much (well, I expect the first draft of one Any Day Now). When I have something to announce regarding any of those – or for that matter, any of the above – I am most likely to say it first in the GURPS thread in my DreamWidth, updated Fridays.

Nothing has changed here: With limited resources to tackle the review, editing, and production of manuscripts for 2026 and early-to-mid 2027, we have to treat proposals to add to the stack as being less-than-pressing matters, for some time next year. Nevertheless, if you are interested in a title on the Warehouse 23 Digital Wish List (pending an update submitted February 11) and Warehouse 23 Wish List for GURPS (ditto), we may be interested as long as you can say what you want to say in 12 or 21 pages, and keep the rules relatively light. Given the schedule, we can afford to be picky and definitely intend to favor writers whose correspondence conveys that they have taken to heart the Freelancer FAQ, Submission Guidelines, GURPS formatting guide, and GURPS WYSIWYG template.
