Batteries are becoming more widespread and their cost is dropping (almost by half in the last decade). See the story below.
Our family got a second EV this month, a 2022 Chevrolet Bolt, and we learned about winter EV driving when a planned 100 mile roundtrip on the odometer showed 130 miles used on the battery display. Batteries perform better when they are not cold. It's less of a concern with newer EVs that can go hundreds of miles. Our daily driving of a 2014 Nissan Leaf has averaged 20 miles per day, maybe typical for a local commuter car.
