After watching our trees grow taller and adding a level 2 EV charger, heat pumps for water heating, clothes drying, and a cold climate heat pump for heating the house when outdoors is below 0° F, our energy usage has increased beyond our solar generation capacity. Duke Energy has a remedy with this answer to my question of the effect on net metering status when an approved system is changed.
If you decide to add to, upgrade or replace your solar system, you will automatically be grandfathered into the current Net Metering rider you are on. Our grandfathering policy applies to all Duke Energy jurisdictions and interconnection customers.
