Dear SIGTURK Members,

I am writing to notify you on the upcoming election of new executive and administrative committee of SIGTURK in the 2025-2026 term. All members interested are encouraged to nominate themselves for either of the 7 positions on the committee - President, Secretary, and 5 officer positions. The role is a great opportunity to be exposed to our community, have the opportunity to take initiative on new ideas and projects to extend the scope and activities of our community. As officers you may also contribute to ongoing administrative duties or support the organization of our workshop which will take place with EMNLP next year.

We didn't receive any nominations for the executive roles. Therefore I will self-nominate myself as the President. Due to their seniority and years of experience in the field I would like to nominate Necva Bolucu for the Secretary position if they also approve. I would like to maybe clarify my position: Even though this community is very dear to me I have served already 2 terms as president with the founding officers who have worked so hard to grow this special interest group into a large ACL community with its own workshop. So I wanted to take this moment to express how I am very thankful to their work and to have had opportunity to work with them. But I think it would be more appropriate to let community experience new ideas and innovation and I am sure it will continue to thrive under new leadership. I'm happy to run the elections and pass over my duty to Prof. Oflazer and continue to help as much needed at my capacity in the future.
